Recycled patio

Outside the back door was a bit of a suntrap in the mornings and we decided it would be a nice place to sit and eat breakfast.

There were several paving slabs down the bottom of the garden forming a path across a lawned area that we thought would be ok to recycle as a patio up top.  We dug up some bushes and laid our slabs to see how big a patio area they would create.

We bought two sleepers to make the front edge and step down, and laid hardcore and sand down for the patio bed.

We upgraded the fence along the side with a picket fence to allow more light through, and to provide an edge to retain all the hardcore.

We tidied the adjoining concrete, edged the slabs with some bricks from the old greenhouse area and  filled in with plum slate chippings, over a membrane, and we were pretty pleased with the finished product.

The centre piece became a swingball/ washing line holder and was decorated with some pebbles and marbles, for that bespoke feel.

Now all we needed was a table and chairs and our new dining area was good to go.
