Fairy houses and campfires

Although the brambles had been cut to ground level, we were fully aware they would grow back, just waiting for us to let our guard down. The grass was patchy where it had been overrun, we found garden paths and brick walls,  a hidden bench and a huge water feature, metal tanks, scaffold poles and a lifetime supply of flower pots.

We were heading into autumn, the evenings were cooling and getting darker.  We made houses for the fairies, who danced around the garden every evening, we toasted marshmallows and made s'mores over an open fire.  We explored the little wooded grove over the brook, and put up swings in the trees.
Despite the clearance, we still had wild and overgrown areas of garden to explore.  One day we found a hidden bench, underneath overgrown plants overhanging from the garden above and smothered by neighbouring plants.  Once the bench itself was cleared you could sit there entirely enclosed by plants and oversee the rest of the garden below.
